Battery & ES Tech Europe takes place in Barcelona

The inaugural edition of the event will feature nearly a hundred top-level experts who will address the challenges of the sector.

The first edition of Battery & Energy Storage Tech Europe will bring together more than a hundred companies, institutions and associations and more than 70 international experts in the field of energy storage and batteries on 8 and 9 September 2026 at Fira de Barcelona's Gran Via venue. The new congress was created with the aim of promoting innovation, knowledge and collaboration in a strategic sector for industrial competitiveness and the European energy transition.

On 8 and 9 September, Gran Via will become the meeting point for the main European players linked to energy storage and technologies associated with batteries. Organised by Fira de Barcelona, the show was created with the aim of connecting industry, research, public administrations and sectoral entities to discuss the major challenges and opportunities of a strategic area for the continent's economic future.

In a context marked by the electrification of the economy, the energy transition and the need to strengthen European industrial competitiveness, Battery & Energy Storage Tech Europe is presented as a platform to promote innovation and collaboration between the different agents of an ecosystem in full expansion. Thus, the congress part of the event will bring together more than 70 experts from energy companies, battery manufacturers, technology centres, associations and institutions. 

The programme will address some of the main challenges that will condition the growth of an industry that moves around 58,000 million euros and is set to play a central role in the European industrial strategy for the coming decades. Specifically, the agenda will be structured around the following main thematic axes: industrial and emerging applications; BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems) technologies; recycling and second life; high-performance batteries and new chemistries; next-generation technologies; policy and regulation; and financing.

Beyond large-scale storage, the programme will give space to high-performance applications in sectors such as space, aviation or railways, together with discussions on intelligent battery management, sustainable system design, investment in new chemistries (high-density lithium, sodium-ion, solid state) and the development of a more autonomous and competitive European industry.
