Hong Kong: safety measures and launches lucky draw to encourage vaccination

27.07.2021

Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (Management) Limited (HML) takes the lead to safeguard health and safety of event attendees by continuously enhancing stringent preventive measures at the HKCEC, and launching a city-wide “Vaccination for All” HKCEC Lucky Draw (“the Lucky Draw”) to encourage public vaccination.

HML is committed to provide a safe and hygienic environment for events and to give peace of mind to attendees. With large scale public shows lined up in the July and August, latest measures include deploying robots to apply disinfectants (link to video), spraying anti-virus disinfection coating in event venues and public circulation areas, installing new air handling units with UV lamps, and providing contactless payment options in F&B outlets. All staff members and contractor workers involving in exhibition operations must present either their negative Covid-19 test results or vaccination records before being admitted to event venues.

As a responsible corporate citizen and a key event industry player in the region, HML also took the lead in the industry to launch a Lucky Draw on 14 July to encourage Hong Kong residents to get vaccinated. Tempting offers valued at over US$64,000 include year-round unlimited dinner buffets and dining vouchers at HKCEC’s restaurants. Participants must have completed the Covid-19 vaccination course in Hong Kong on or before 31 August to be eligible to win.

Monica Lee-Müller, managing director of HML commented, “With enhanced preventive measures in place, the HKCEC has successfully welcomed over 830,000 visitors to four concurrent public exhibitions during 14 – 20 July, proving our capabilities in protecting the health and safety of large number of participants while maintaining a clean and hygienic environment for all. Yet, achieving herd immunity through vaccination is vital for the revival of the international exhibition and travel industry. As an industry leader, HML is happy to play our role in motivating the public to get vaccinated to protect ourselves and our loved ones, and to speed up the recovery of our industry.”
