The Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC) has formed a partnership with dmg events Middle East, Asia & Africa to bring the organiser’s leading portfolio of interiors, design and construction exhibitions to the GCC region. The partnership, which includes the regional launch of several of DMG’s leading events, also sees dmg establish an office in Qatar, following approval from the Qatar Financial Centre and Qatar Tourism Authority.
Commenting
on the move and venue partnership, dmg design division portfolio director Tony
Crinion said the State of Qatar now presents huge opportunity for interior,
fit-out and construction suppliers looking at the Middle East. “Arguably the
largest untapped business opportunity for the Interiors and Construction
sectors in the Middle East, Qatar has ambitious plans for the future following
their ‘Qatari National Vision 2030’.”
Index
Qatar will be DMG’s first addition to this portfolio. This large-scale international
trade show will provide unique access for the supply of interiors and fit-out
services to the commercial, retail, residential and hospitality sectors in this
dynamic market. The exhibition brings suppliers, manufacturers and sellers to
meet over 200,000 key buyers and specifiers, including 5,000 local architects,
designers and procurement specialists, to meet with more than 200 regional and
international suppliers. The event takes place on 13-15 November and is
expected to cover around 4,000sqm.
“With
no dedicated Interiors event already existing in Qatar, we felt it was as an
opportune moment to bring the Index brand to Doha,” explains Crinion. “Not only
an exhibition, the event will act as a meeting place for Qatar’s growing design
community and will provide them with an important platform to source new
products and suppliers; be inspired and learn about the latest International
trends as well as discuss important industry topics.
Already
the wealthiest nation on the planet and one of its fastest growing economies,
Qatar is quickly diversifying away from its traditional reliance on
hydrocarbons and focusing on large-scale sustainable infrastructure
development, medical and health, tourism and services.
Combined
with hosting the FIFA 2022 World Cup, a reported $500 million dollars is
currently being spent weekly by the government on infrastructure and property
development projects. This fundamental market shift is outlined in Qatar’s National Vision 2030 and backed
up with US$220+ billion of government investment which is being poured into the
design, construction and fit-out of major commercial, retail, residential,
hospitality, transportation, leisure and recreation projects by 2022.
