Women in Exhibitions (WIE) founder, Oana Cipca, today announced that the first ever WIE World Summit will take place in Maastricht on the 13 – 14 June 2023 at the MECC.
The theme of this summit is “Beyond Bias: Breaking Business Barriers”, and will represent a unique opportunity to bring WIE members and non-members together to listen, learn, exchange and provide support for one another. The summit programme will be tailored to help identify and overcome the biases that block women and hinder their career progression so that they can seize and nurture their full potential as female professionals and industry leaders. The summit will precede the UFI European Conference that will also take place at the MECC.
Oana Cipca is delighted to be welcoming all the great women and men that form the network across the globe to the MECC where she has the role of business development manager and to Maastricht, a vibrant Romanesque city set in the heart of Europe. Cipca says: “This summit is a dream come true for me. We always said that we would organise a summit once more than 1,000 industry colleagues engaged in our events and were actively joining our meetings. Today we are followed by over 2,500 industry colleagues, we are active in different countries and have become a voice for the industry that cannot be missed. Today I feel proud that we will all be together, this unmissable voice.”
Sonia Thomas, executive director of Women in Exhibitions, is also happy to be working on this must-attend event for women across the globe. Thomas says: “I am delighted to be organizing the first ever WIE World Summit with Oana Cipca! We are putting together some great content, with solid takeaways for everyone. I sincerely hope that women from within and outside the network will join us at the MECC in Maastricht in June, and men too of course.”
Women in Exhibitions was officially launched in 2018 with the aim of supporting the continued professional development of women working in exhibitions and providing opportunities for them to meet and network. There are currently six chapters operating internationally, with new ones expected to form later this year.
