The unexpected makes an impact. When
edges are not hidden but allowed to shine, they add strength and depth to a space.
Syma
bucks the trend and redefines it. Over the past few years, smooth walls with
seamless and joint-free surfaces were a big trend in exhibition stand design. Profiles
– the ‘framework’ – were completely hidden behind panelling or fabric covers.
Syma, a systems manufacturer based in Kirchberg, Switzerland, breaks with convention
and lays the structures bare. Syma highlights corners, edges and contours with
LED lighting, rather than concealing them. To this end, the Swiss company has
developed its new LED lighting profiles and showcased them at Euroshop 2026,
the leading trade fair for shopfitting and exhibition design in Düsseldorf. As
at every Euroshop, Syma showcased its new products and highlights this year in the
design of its own stand. The new LED profiles were an unusual sight and caught
the eye of visitors. The frames glowed brightly in changing colours. They made
the stand clearly visible from afar, like a cubist structure: large, expansive,
open, inviting and imposing.
The
stand wasn't just noticeable from a distance. It really stood out thanks to its
brightly illuminated edges. Plus: “It was readable,” as Jan Tatic explains.
“Made of illuminated profiles, the framework traced the outline of the
structure and gave a sense of the volume and space occupied by the stand. “The
viewer was drawn into the spatial depth,” said Syma’s group marketing leader.
It's the architecture that shines, not the space –
such is the philosophy behind the new design concept. Jan Tatic describes it as
follows: “Light doesn’t just complement architecture; it defines it. The
presence gains clarity,” explains the head of marketing. “While backlit
surfaces create a strong visual presence, the light becomes part of the construction
itself.” Indeed, the striking, luminous lines and sharp contours certainly made
an impact. “The stand is noticed sooner and stays in the memory for longer,”
concludes the head of Syma’s group marketing team. For Euroshop, Syma also
opted for LED profiles finished in black. Against this black frame, the light
created a particularly high-contrast effect. Moreover, the stand dominated its
surroundings with its three-storey design. This allowed Syma to demonstrate the
capabilities of its Syma Molto 90 and Cubic systems, which can support heavy
superstructures and accommodate multi-storey constructions. The upper storeys
housed viewing, meeting and hospitality areas.
Technically speaking, the new Syma light profiles
consist of aluminium profiles with integrated LED strips. Through an opal
cover, the light penetrates evenly and linearly, thus illuminating the columns
in a uniform manner. The new lighting profiles can be combined with all common
stand-building systems, such as the Syma Cubic double-deck system, Syma Molto
90 or the Xwall 60 wall system, to fill the walls with panels, glass or fabric.
The light profiles can be controlled individually or in groups via remote
control to create different lighting effects. At the same time, the entire
system can be programmed by a single remote control. “This creates a variety of
lighting effects, ranging from calm, even lighting to sharp accents,” says Jan
Tatic

As the world becomes increasingly interconnected, exhibitions have evolved far beyond their traditional role as trade promotion platforms.
In the event world, it’s simply part of life if things don’t work out as planned.
Networking typically happens at real, in-person events. But it’s also possible to do it online; it just works a little differently. There are various options available to organisers.
New products and a well-conceived stand design are not the only drivers for a successful presence. Many other factors are also important, but trade fair planners often lose sight of them.
Trade fairs and trade fair companies need to constantly further develop, become more agile and flexible and offer services all year round. New, digital offerings are very important here. With its TrustedTargeting technology, Messe München offers its customers access to leading business-to-business decision-makers on the Internet.
