Stand construction suppliers: Going vertical to maximise space

For exhibitors with not much floor space or who want to think big, the Syma-Cubic system allows you to build booths with up to three levels.

Not only modern architecture is increasingly building upwards. Multi-level booths also offer advantages for stand builders. Constructions with two or even three levels are possible in most exhibition halls. And outdoors, the sky is virtually the limit. In terms of stand space, two or three-levels makes the most of your exhibition space. The scarcer and more expensive the floor space, the greater the advantage. The first bonus is already the visibility aspect. Anyone entering the hall or taking a walk in the outdoor area will spot a stand that towers over its neighbours from afar. “By building upwards, exhibitors can stand out from the competition and attract more visitors,” explains Jan Tatic. He is the head of marketing at Syma, the systems manufacturer from Kirchberg, Switzerland.

Jan Tatic adds: “Unique and innovative stand designs that utilise vertical space offer new possibilities for showcasing and experiencing brands.” Indeed, brand presentations can be diversified, as multi-level stands enable you to create separate areas for different modes of communication. The lower level is ideal for exhibition areas with product displays, multimedia shows, interactive games or stage programmes. This attracts passers-by and gives trade visitors a first taste of the brand and products. Whereas, the upper level can house meeting rooms or chill-out areas. At Immotrans fair in Berlin, the transport association Swissrail was unable to get the floor space it wanted. The solution: a stand with three levels.

The lower level and upper level housed exhibition spaces. The top level was used for meeting rooms as well as catering, restaurant and lounge areas. As a result, the exhibitor tripled its 568 square metres of exhibition space to almost 1,500 square metres. Syma developed the Cubic construction system to meet demands such as these. It has an impressive load capacity of 500 kilograms per square metre. Nevertheless, the system’s 90 by 90 millimetre profiles have a slimline appearance. Cubic also played a key role at the Beach Volleyball World Tour in Gstaad: On the lower level, there was a lounge to attract visitors. Upstairs, guests found a balcony and business seats with panoramic windows.

Another advantage of the multi-level system is its efficiency. With Syma-Cubic, you can build stands in next to no time and with little manpower. The components fit together perfectly: Supports and beams are connected without screws or tools and meet the most stringent static requirements. It took the construction team only two days to set up the basic frame of the Swissrail stand. Thanks to the system grooves and patented quick hook connector, Cubic is compatible with Syma products for walls, panels, doors or stairs for interior fittings. Head of marketing Jan Tatic sees a further bonus in the construction material. “Our aluminium profiles are extremely long-lasting and can be reused sustainably and efficiently” (www.syma.com).
