UFI in Maastricht: Visions and how to make them happen

13.06.2023

From 14 to 16 June, trade fair professionals will be gathering for their European conference. The host city and speakers reflect the will to achieve ambitious goals.

Few places are as ideal for an event in the heart of Europe as Maastricht. Located in the most southern corner of the Netherlands, it is also close to the borders with Belgium and Germany. Over the past 2,000 years, the Romans, Spanish, French and Germans have all left their mark. The city was made famous by the Maastricht Treaty of 1992, when the foreign and finance ministers of the then twelve EU member states signed the document that was to drive European integration forward. 31 years later, trade fair delegates are following in the tracks of this event. On the evening of 14 June the welcome reception of the UFI conference will take place at Province House, the historic site where the Treaty was signed.

The Maastricht Treaty was all about visions that were later to become success stories. Visions, success, and how to make it happen are the topics of Ann Daniels' lecture on 15 June. The UK polar explorer, along with her teammate Caroline Hamilton, were the first women to reach the North and South Poles as part of all-women teams. By the way, Ann had to beat off fierce competition from over 200 other women to join her first expedition - with no previous outdoor experience! Since then, she has taken part in over 15 polar expeditions, in the toughest environments on the planet. Her lecture could inspire trade fair professionals to take on major challenges.
