Supattanapong Punmeechaow, deputy prime minister and minister of energy, The Kingdom of Thailand, says:
"The Ministry of Energy of Thailand is pleased to
congratulate and support the Future Energy Asia Exhibition and Conference 2022, co-located with Future Mobility Asia 2022, to be held on the 20th – 22nd July 2022 in Bangkok.
This event comes at a crucial time, amidst many challenges in the energy sector. The event serves as an inclusive, open platform to advance ASEAN towards a secure, affordable, and low-carbon energy future.
As the region’s leading meeting points for companies and professionals in the energy industry, Future Energy Asia 2022 will convene regional ministers and policy makers, 200 global energy leader speakers, 150 exhibitors and 5,000 trade buyers.
It is forecasted that by 2030, ASEAN will become the 4th largest energy consumer in the world, with energy demand tripling to about 2,200 TWh in 2040. ASEAN is expected to remain a key engine of growth for LNG, amounting to 83 MTPA growth between 2019-2040. Renewables are expected to make up 23% of total primary energy supply by 2025, creating billion-dollar investment opportunities. For Thailand, we formulate our policy direction so called “National Energy Plan 2022” to boost up the proportion of renewable energy to more than 50% of the new power generation in 2043. Moreover, Thailand is now moving towards to be a global electric vehicles production base by promoting EV up to 30% of total domestic production by 2030. These supportive measures will help the country to achieve Carbon Neutrality target by 2050 and reach the Net Zero Greenhouse Gas emission by 2065. Thailand also has a strong intention and ready to move forward energy cooperation among ASEAN countries in order to enhance our regional energy security including expanding LNG infrastructure to support future LNG demand. In addition, hydrogen, carbon capture, energy storage have gained significant traction as the world advances towards net zero vision. Digitalisation plays a critical role in the region’s energy transition, in the form of smart grid, renewables integration, and production efficiency, amongst others.
With this backdrop, I believe that Future Energy Asia is the pertinent forum for addressing these transformative themes and I encourage you to make time to discuss with dmg events, the organizers of Future Energy Asia 2022, to explore how you can participate in this important platform and together accelerate the development of the region’s energy mix through open dialogue, exchange and business opportunities.
On behalf of the Ministry of Energy of Thailand, I
look forward to welcoming all participants to attend the Future Energy Asia
Exhibition and Summit 2022 in Bangkok this July."
